A relationship firm built around an incomplete regional market
Virtus Ventures works between technical operators who are not yet visible to venture capital and funds that want to examine companies beyond their inherited networks.
Virtus Ventures LLC was formed in 2026. The firm does not have a long history, and it does not present the appearance of one. Its work begins from a specific observation about the Baltimore and Washington corridor: substantial technical ability and available venture capital can exist in the same region without meeting through a dependable process.
The firm is not a substitute for investment diligence, and an introduction is not an endorsement. The work is to understand enough about an operator, a company, and a fund's actual mandate to know when a connection has a clear reason to exist. Sometimes the useful answer is that a company is not ready, that venture capital is not the right instrument, or that the fund and founder should not spend time together. A relationship practice has to preserve the freedom to reach those conclusions.
The method is intentionally relational rather than transactional. Virtus stays close to institutions during periods when no financing process is active, because those periods often reveal how an operator works and whether a company is becoming more coherent. The firm also asks funds to state their mandates with enough precision that a founder can understand why a conversation may be relevant. Neither side benefits from an introduction made only to demonstrate activity.
Virtus is based in Annapolis and works across the Baltimore and Washington corridor. Its early standard is straightforward: make specific claims, remain honest about the firm's stage, treat institutional trust with care, and allow the quality of the thinking to be examined before asking anyone to believe in a record that has not yet been built.
